On July 2, 2022, during the official closing ceremony of the Sveti Vlas Film Fest, Hollywood director Martin Campbell presented the Danny Lerner Award to a team of our young filmmakers, as part of the FilmForge professional training program of “New Painted Film studios”.
Martin Campbell was a special guest at the awards ceremony. Winner of six BAFTA Awards and regarded as one of the UK’s finest directors, he has directed some of Hollywood’s highest grossing films. Campbell is behind the camera on films such as Casino Royale and Goldeneye from the James Bond series, the epic romance Beyond with Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen, The Foreigner, Vertical Limit, The Mask of Zorro and etc.
During the festival, the hottest action titles for 2022 were broadcast. The most awaited sequel to “Top Gun: Maverick” was broadcast in the “Arena” Amphitheater in Sveti Vlas. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, “Dune”, “Death Can Wait”, “Gentleman’s Robbery” and others entered the top 5. Among the selection of films, one Bulgarian title stood out – “Yellow Oleander” by director Lachezar Avramov.
The selection committee was chaired by Marian Valev and composed of Prof. Nina Altparmakova and Toni Dobrinska. To evaluate and choose the winners in the individual categories fell to the star jury chaired by film critic Deyan Statulov, IKAR winner actress Lilia Maravilya, director and producer Dimitar Gochev, screenwriter Vanya Nikolova and Prof. Kosta Kostov, famous pulmonologist, member of the Union of Bulgarian Writers and a movie buff.
